Hiring help in UAE
You can freely browse our database of candidates. If you find the quality of the candidates satisfying, you sign up to get access to the candidates’ whatsapp numbers. A basic subscription will give you access to contact numbers for 4 weeks.
You proceed to contact all the candidates you want to get in touch with. We are doing weekly check ins with ALL candidates to ensure that they are still available, responsive, and ready for their next job. This is solving one of the biggest time wasters when searching for a new nanny.
When you have found a candidate you want to hire, you will discuss salary, living arrangement, visa and benefits directly with the candidate. In most cases, the helper should be provided with a visa and benefits, but if you require other arrangements, you will discuss this directly with the candidate.
No, we are not an agency. We don’t charge any agency fees, and we don’t take a ‘cut’ of the helper’s salary.
We are a platform connection employers with nannies, maids and other helpers across the UAE.
This is also why we leave the visa arrangements completely up to you, however we do offer a discount on the visa through our partnership with maids.cc
We are not an agency, and we don’t have nannies available for hourly jobs. However, if you search for helpers with ‘own visa’, these might be interested in shorter term jobs (if their visa category allows). Please note that hiring domestic workers normally requires a sponsored visa in order to be legal. However there might be exception to this rule, which is why we allow listings from nannies with ‘own visa’.
While most of our nannies are looking for full time work with visa and benefits, you can filter nannies/maids with ‘own visa’ to find candidates who might be interested in shorter term jobs.
Please note that for full time domestic workers, as per UAE law they should be sponsored by a visa. However, some helpers can have visa types where they are legally allowed to take on part time work (such as working for a licensed agency).
If you are hiring a domestic helper in the UAE, you are in most cases obliged by law to issue a visa for your helper.
There are multiple ways of doing this.
The most common way of issuing a visa for a domestic helper, is through Tadbeer/maids.cc or a similar agency. The approximate cost of this is 8500 AED for a 2 year visa, however you will get a 200 AED discount on this by using the Find A Helper discount, see find-a-helper.com/visa for more info.
There are also other possibilities, such as direct sponsorship if you hold a Golden Visa, however it most instances this will be more expensive which is why most people go for the Tadbeer visa.
Working in the UAE without a visa is not legal, both for the employer and the employee. Once you have found someone who is a good fit for you and your job, you should start the visa process or ensure that the papers are already in order.
Please also be aware that those who are here on tourist visa or cancelled visa have a limited number of days where they are allowed to stay in the UAE, hence it’s very important to them to get their working visa approved asap to avoid fines. We ask all employers to kindly take into account that helpers are often ‘running against the clock’ so please take this into consideration.
Get in touch and we will answer any questions you have about getting a visa, our whatsapp is +971 58 589 0733.
In most cases, domestic helpers should be sponsored directly by their employer, or through a Tadbeer office such as maids.cc
However, there might be rare exceptions to this rule, and nannies or maids with ‘own visa’ might legally be allowed to work if their sponsor is a licensed agency or similar. As we are a platform connecting people only, we allow nannies with all types of visas to register, so please be aware that you as an employer are responsible to make sure you do a legal hire. Sponsoring the visa yourself is always the safest choice.
Please note that Find A Helper is purely a platform connecting families and employers with nannies, maids and helpers, and all the paperwork related to sponsorship, salary, living arrangements etc will be done directly between you and the helper.
As per Decree Law, domestic workers are entitled to (but not limited to):
- Payment of wages, as set out in the standard contract, within 10 days from the day they are due
- Weekly day off, rest 12 hours of rest per day, including 8 hours of consecutive rest
- 30 days of paid annual leave
- A round-trip ticket home every 2 years
- 30 days of sick leave per year
- Visa sponsorship and Emirates ID
- Health insurance
- End of service gratuity
- Keeping their own passport
Please note that this should not be interpreted as legal advice, and we advice to check MOHRE’s website for the latest up to date rules.
We advise all families to follow these rules. Asking domestic workers to work with ‘no day off’ or ‘1 day monthly off’ is not legal in the UAE.
There are 19 occupations that falls in under the definition of a domestic worker in the UAE, the most relevant for users of Find A Helper is:
Housemaid, Housekeeper, Cook, Nanny/Babysitter, Home Nurse and Personal/Family Driver.
It’s imperative that you feel confident in your nanny, maid or helper before offering a contract, as changing for another helper is both costly and time consuming.
When you have issued a visa, you cannot get refunded if you cancel the visa, hence we encourage you to do a proper assessment before offering sponsorship.
Payment
There is no cost, we simply require you to register on our page.
You can contact as many helpers as you’d like. We suggest at least interviewing 3-4 candidates to make sure you have a good range for comparison.
We are pre interviewing all nannies, maids and helpers before they are published on our site. We receive hundreds of applications monthly, and we only publish candidate profiles that pass our quality checks.
However, we do not do thorough background checks. Hence we encourage you to do a thorough interview, as well as speak to their references, to make sure the information they have provided to us is accurate.
Please note: There is an ongoing issue with candidates in the UAE providing ‘fake references’ (e.g. a friend, or even themselves). We encourage you to ask questions that only a true employer would be able to answer. If you are communicating with a facebook profile, check if the profile is newly set up (red flag), has a limited number of friends (red flag), or other unusual issues.
Yes! Each and every one has been interviewed by us.
We check in on every single candidate weekly to ensure they
- Are still available
- Are still here in the UAE
- Are responsive to all whatsapp messages sent to them
- Are not tied up in a contract where joining a new employer would not be an option.
Unresponsive candidates, ‘no shows’ for interviews/trials, or candidates who reportedly have been rude, will be removed from our platform immediately.
